The new Samsung LED Television

With surprising picture tone and paper flat width, the new Samsung LED Televisions are a whole new species of tv. But what is the difference between this and the more conventional LED and is it worth the extra dosh?

With standard LED TVs, the picture is rendered by a continual fluorescent light which illuminates the picture onto the screen. The only trouble with that method of picture reproduction is that the lamp is normally too bright to display true black pictures and can include unwanted colors in the picture which are hard to filter without cutting screen brightness.

With LED or Light Emitting Diodes, each single LED exchanges electrical energy directly into light producing a awesome improvement in contrast and colour.

So by using leaner lamps and a slimmer diffusor sheet, Samsung LED TV are not just more likely to develop the cutting visuals so many film fans thirst, they are also 70% skinnier than equal fluorescent TVs! And given that Samsung have put the LEDs about the outside of the screen and targeted them inward, the size of their first LED model is just 29.9mm thick… which has to be seen to be believed!
